about

A completely improvised set which we performed live on air in the studios of WXPN in Philadelphia, PA, during the early hours of Sunday September 14th 2003.

We were playing a guest slot on Chuck Van Zyl's "Star's End" radio show. Star's End is broadcast between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. (Eastern Time Zone) every Saturday night / Sunday morning. Often, the listeners will be in bed, in that twilight zone between wakefulness and sleep. Under these conditions, the mind becomes open to the spacey, ambient sounds issuing from the radio.

This was our first ever fully-improvised performance. We are usually control freaks when it comes to playing live, ensuring that every detail is worked out to the Nth degree well in advance. However, the early hours slot demanded that we go for a more laid-back, ambient approach to music making. We were surprised and delighted by how pleasurable an experience it was, and by how well the music itself turned out.

A firm favourite of the band and fans alike.
